The Green Campus Clean Campus Club (GC⁴)

Genesis and Vision

The Green Campus Clean Campus Club (GC⁴) was established on 10.12.2021 at the behest of the honorable Vice-Chancellor Professor Tankeshwar Kumar with the aim “to bring participative growth in the cleanliness and greening of the campus.”

GC⁴ will create awareness among students and public about various environment-related problems and conservation of Nature and natural resources in the surrounding area and educating on how to live Eco-friendly. The club will strive hard for adopting the 4 R's (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle & Restore) of environment protection in totality to make an energy-efficient & environmentally sustainable clean & green campus.

Objectives of GC⁴

  • To encourage students and campus residents to keep the environment clean.
  • To educate and create awareness among students and nearby public about various environmental issues.
  • To suggest various resource conservation practices including water conservation, waste management to university.
  • To prepare policy on “Green Campus Clean Campus” and apply for Swachh campus ranking.

Functions

  • To invite participation from students, employees, and other campus residents in different activities for environment conservation.
  • To carry out activities like plantation drives, save trees, anti-polyethene drives, Swachhata drives, Flower shows, etc., individually or in association with other cells/clubs like NSS, CISED, etc.
  • To coordinate with different government bodies for the organization of different activities.
  • To increase the campus green cover through plantation drives of perennial trees, especially native trees.
  • To guide the university staff about plantation, its maintenance, and other related work to make the campus green.
  • To guide the staff about Solid Waste Management (SWM) through bio-composting, vermicomposting, biogas production, etc.
  • To celebrate various occasions like World Environment Day (5th June), World Soil Day (5th Dec), Earth Day (22nd April), World Wildlife Day (3rd March), Vana Mahotsav (1st–7th July), National Energy Conservation Day (14th Dec) in collaboration with different departments.
  • To suggest other measures to keep the university clean and green.
